Obama's science czar suggested compulsory abortion, sterilization

Internet reports are now circulating that Obama's Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, John Holdren, penned a 1977 book that approved of and recommended compulsory sterilization and even abortion in some cases, as part of a government population control regime.

Given the general unreliability of Internet quotations, I wanted to go straight to this now-rare text and make sure the reports were both accurate and kept Holdren's writings in context. Generally speaking, they are, and they do.

The Holdren book, titled Ecoscience and co-authored with Malthus enthusiasts Paul and Anne Ehrlich, weighs in at more than 1,000 pages. Of greatest importance to its discussion of how to limit the human population is its disregard for any ethical considerations.

Holdren (with the Ehrlichs) notes the existence of “moral objections to some proposals...especially to any kind of compulsion.” But his approach is completely amoral. He implies that compulsory population control is less preferable, because of some people's objections, but he argues repeatedly that it is sometimes necessary, and necessity trumps all ethical objections.

He writes:

Several coercive proposals deserve discussion, mainly because some countries may ultimately have to resort to them unless current trends in birth rates are rapidly reversed by other means. Some involuntary measures could be less repressive or discriminatory, in fact, than some of the socioeconomic measures suggested.

Holdren refers approvingly, for example, to Indira Gandhi's government for its then-recent attempt at a compulsory sterilization program:

India in the mid-1970s not only entertained the idea of compulsory sterilization, but moved toward implementing it...This decision was greeted with dismay abroad, but Indira Gandhi's government felt it had little other choice. There is too little time left to experiment further with educational programs and hope that social change will generate a spontaneous fertility decline, and most of the Indian population is too poor for direct economic pressures (especially penalties) to be effective.

When necessary, then, compulsory sterilization is justified. This attitude suffuses the following passage, in which the possibility of putting a “sterilant” into a population's drinking water is seriously discussed. Holdren and his co-authors do not recommend this particular method, but their objections to it are merely practical and health-related, not moral or stemming from any concern for human freedom:

Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion that seems to horrify people more than most proposals for involuntary fertility control. Indeed, this would pose some very difficult political, legal, and social questions, to say nothing of the technical problems. No such sterilant exists today, nor does one appear to be under development. To be acceptable, such a substance would have to meet some rather stiff requirements: it must be uniformly effective, despite widely varying doses received by individuals, and despite varying degrees of fertility and sensitivity among individuals; it must be free of dangerous or unpleasant side effects; and it must have no effect on members of the oposite sex, children, old people, pets, or livestock...Again, there is no sign of such an agent on the horizon. And the risk of serious, unforeseen side effects would, in our opinion, militate against the use of any such agent, even though this plan has the advantage of avoiding the need for socioeconomic pressures that might tend to discriminate against particular groups or penalize children.

Even though they do not recommend it, note that Holdren and his co-authors treat this as a serious policy proposal with serious drawbacks -- not as an insane idea unworthy of consideration.

They look with more favor on this “milder” form of coercive sterilization:

Of course, a government might require only implantation of the contraceptive capsule, leaving its removal to the individual's discretion but requiring reimplantation after childbirth. Since having a child would require positive action (removal of the capsule), many more births would be prevented than in the reverse situation.

Holdren and his co-authors also tackle the problem of illegitimacy, recognizing that it could be one consequence of a society which, in its effort to limit births, downgrades the value of intact nuclear families and encourages lifelong bachelorhood:

Responsible parenthood ought to be encouraged and illegitimate childbearing could be strongly discouraged. One way to carry out this disapproval might be to insist that all illegitimate babies be put up for adoption -- especially those born to minors, who generally are not capable of caring properly for a child alone...It would even be possible to require pregnant single women to marry or have abortions, perhaps as an alternative to placement for adoption, depending on the society.

Holdren's suggestion here is presented perfectly in context. It stands alone in the text without any accompanying reservations.

President Obama has spoken repeatedly in favor of putting science before ideology. The real debate, however, has never been about whether ethics are needed in science, but rather over whose ethics should determine where science will or will not go.

Nowhere has Obama suggested that science should be completely ethics-free. But Holdren is his Science Czar all the same.

Fatimah (Arabic: فاطمة; fāṭimah. c. 605–632) was the youngest daughter of Muhammad and his first wife Khadija.



She was Muhammad's favorite daughter. Fatima or the Greater Mary is known as the "Mary of Islam" by many as the equivalent to Mary of Bethlehem because of her moral purity and her position as the Virgin of Islam; seen by some as the mystical "Light" of Muhammad as is seen in the name Fatimah al-Zahra or "Daughter of Light". Because Allah calls Himself the "Light of the Heavens and the Earth" Mohamed used to call her, "Daughter of Allah";

The most used title for Fatima is "al-Zahra" (meaning "the shining one") and she is commonly referred to as Fatimah Zahra. She was also known as Umm-ul-Abeeha ( Mother of her Father)

Interestingly, the Catholics venerate a Fatima occurrence as well.

The name of the town Fatima (formerly a small village) comes from the Arabic name Fatima, and legend says it derives from a local Moorish princess named Fatima who, following her capture by Christian forces during the Islamic occupation of Portuguese territory, was betrothed to Gonçalo Hermigues, Count of Ourém, converted to Catholicism, and was baptized before marrying the Count in 1158. Her baptismal name was Oureana.

Oriana is primarily a female given name, widespread, even if not very common, in European languages. Its etymological origins are probably mixed. On the one hand there seems to be the Celtic Irish meaning of Blond or Golden, on the other hand there is the Latin meaning of Rising (as in Sunrise; see a similar word root in Orient). There seems to be a connection between these two origins, given that the root Ori may be an Indo-European root referring to the rising or color of the Sun. Things get even more complicated as in the languages of the Iberian peninsula, namely Spanish and Portuguese, there is the medieval Oroana or Ouroana, from Oro or Ouro meaning Gold, whose origin is the Latin Aurum, and whose root, Aur, may be related to Ori.

Between May and October of 1917, three shepherd children, Lúcia Santos and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto reported visions of the Virgin Mary in the Cova da Iria fields outside the hamlet of Aljustrel, very close to Fatima, Portugal. They had this experience on the 13th day of each month at approximately the same hour. Lúcia described seeing Mary as "brighter than the sun, shedding rays of light clearer and stronger than a crystal glass filled with the most sparkling water and pierced by the burning rays of the sun."

"What I'm going to tell you is what I learned in secret briefings in the Vatican when I was a Jesuit priest, under oath and induction. A Jesuit cardinal named Augustine Bea showed us how desperately the Roman Catholics wanted Jerusalem at the end of the third century. Because of its religious history and its strategic location, the Holy City was considered a priceless treasure. A scheme had to be developed to make Jerusalem a Roman Catholic city.

"The great untapped source of manpower that could do this job was the children of Ishmael. The poor Arabs fell victim to one of the most clever plans ever devised by the powers of darkness. Early Christians went everywhere with the gospel setting up small churches, but they met heavy opposition. Both the Jews and the Roman government persecuted the believers in Christ to stop their spread. But the Jews rebelled against Rome, and in 70 AD, Roman armies under General Titus smashed Jerusalem and destroyed the great Jewish temple which was the heart of Jewish worship...in fulfillment of Christ's prophecy in Matthew 24:2.

"On this holy placed today where the temple once stood, the Dome of the Rock Mosque stands as Islam's second most holy place. Sweeping changes were in the wind. Corruption, apathy, greed, cruelty, perversion and rebellion were eating at the Roman Empire, and it was ready to collapse. The persecution against Christians was useless as they continued to lay down their lives for the gospel of Christ.

"The only way Satan could stop this thrust was to create a counterfeit "Christian" religion to destroy the work of God. The solution was in Rome. Their religion had come from ancient Babylon and all it needed was a face-lift. This didn't happen overnight, but began in the writings of the 'early church fathers'.

"It was through their writings that a new religion would take shape. The statue of Jupiter in Rome was eventually called St. Peter, and the statue of Venus was changed to the Virgin Mary. The site chosen for its headquarters was on one of the seven hills called 'Vaticanus', the place of the diving serpent where the Satanic temple of Janus stood.

"The great counterfeit religion was Roman Catholicism, called 'Mystery, Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth'- Revelation 17:5. She was raised up to block the gospel, slaughter the believers in Christ, establish religions, create wars and make the nations drunk with the wine of her fornication as we will see.

"Three major religions have one thing in common - each has a holy place where they look for guidance. Roman Catholicism looks to the Vatican as the Holy City. The Jews look to the wailing wall in Jerusalem, and the Muslims look to Mecca as their Holy City. Each group believes that they receive certain types of blessings for the rest of their lives for visiting their holy place. In the beginning, Arab visitors would bring gifts to the 'House of God', and the keepers of the Kaaba were gracious to all who came. Some brought their idols and, not wanting to offend these people, their idols were placed inside the sanctuary. It is said that the Jews looked upon the Kaaba as an outlying tabernacle of the Lord with veneration until it became polluted with idols.

"In a tribal contention over a well(Zamzam) the treasure of the Kaaba and the offerings that pilgrims had given were dumped down the well and it was filled with sand - it disappeared. Many years later Adb Al-Muttalib was given visions telling him where to find the well and its treasure. He became the hero of Mecca, and he was destined to become the grandfather of Muhammad. Before this time, Augustine became the bishop of North Africa and was effective in winning Arabs to Roman Catholicism, including whole tribes. It was among these Arab converts to Catholicism that the concept of looking for an Arab prophet developed.

"Muhammad's father died from illness and sons born to great Arab families in places like Mecca were sent into the desert to be suckled and weaned and spend some of their childhood with Bedouin tribes for training and to avoid the plagues in the cities.

"After his mother and grandfather also died, Muhammad was with his uncle when a Roman Catholic monk learned of his identity and said, "Take your brother's son back to his country and guard him against the Jews, for by god, if they see him and know of him that which I know, they will construe evil against him. Great things are in store for this brother's son of yours."

"The Roman Catholic monk had fanned the flames for future Jewish persecutions at the hands of the followers of Muhammad. The Vatican desperately wanted Jerusalem because of its religious significance, but was blocked by the Jews.

"Another problem was the true Christians in North Africa who preached the gospel. Roman Catholicism was growing in power, but would not tolerate opposition. Somehow the Vatican had to create a weapon to eliminate both the Jews and the true Christian believers who refused to accept Roman Catholicism. Lookng to North Africa, they saw the multitudes of Arabs as a source of manpower to do their dirty work. Some Arabs had become Roman Catholic, and could be used in reporting information to leaders in Rome. Others were used in an underground spy network to carry out Rome's master plan to control the great multitudes of Arabs who rejected Catholicism. When 'St Augustine' appeared on the scene, he knew what was going on. His monasteries served as bases to seek out and destroy Bible manuscripts owned by the true Christians.

"The Vatican wanted to create a messiah for the Arabs, someone they could raise up as a great leader, a man with charisma whom they could train, and eventually unite all the non-Catholic Arabs behind him, creating a mighty army that would ultimately capture Jerusalem for the pope. In the Vatican briefing, Cardinal Bea told us this story:

'A wealthy Arabian lady who was a faithful follower of the pope played a tremendous part in this drama. She was a widow named Khadijah. She gave her wealth to the church and retired to a convent, but was given an assignment. She was to find a brilliant young man who could be used by the Vatican to create a new religion and become the messiah for the children of Ishmael. Khadijah had a cousin named Waraquah,, who was also a very faithful Roman Catholic and the Vatican placed him in a critical role as Muhammad's advisor. He had tremendous influence on Muhammad.

'Teachers were sent to young Muhammad and he had intensive training. Muhammad studied the works of St. Augustine which prepared him for his "great calling." The Vatican had Catholic Arabs across North Africa spread the story of a great one who was about to rise up among the people and be the chosen one of their God.

'While Muhammad was being prepared, he was told that his enemies were the Jews and that the only true Christians were Roman Catholic. He was taught that others calling themselves Christians were actually wicked impostors and should be destroyed. Many Muslims believe this.

'Muhammad began receiving "divine revelations" and his wife's Catholic cousin Waraquah helped interpret them. From this came the Koran. In the fifth year of Muhammad's mission, persecution came against his followers because they refused to worship the idols in the Kaaba.

'Muhammad instructed some of them to flee to Abysinnia where Negus, the Roman Catholic king accepted them because Muhammad's views on the virgin Mary were so close to Roman Catholic doctrine. These Muslims received protection from Catholic kings because of Muhammad's revelations.

'Muhammad later conquered Mecca and the Kaaba was cleared of idols. History proves that before Islam came into existence, the Sabeans in Arabia worshiped the moon-god who was married to the sun-god. They gave birth to three goddesses who were worshipped throughout the Arab world as "Daughters of Allah" An idol excavated at Hazor in Palestine in 1950's shows Allah sitting on a throne with the crescent moon on his chest.

'Muhammad claimed he had a vision from Allah and was told, "You are the messenger of Allah." This began his career as a prophet and he received many messages. By the time Muhammad died, the religion of Islam was exploding. The nomadic Arab tribes were joining forces in the name of Allah and his prophet, Muhammad.

'Some of Muhammad's writings were placed in the Koran, others were never published. They are now in the hands of high ranking holy men (Ayatollahs) in the Islamic faith.'

"When Cardinal Bea shared with us in the Vatican, he said, these writings are guarded because they contain information that links the Vatican to the creation of Islam. Both sides have so much information on each other, that if exposed, it could create such a scandal that it would be a disaster for both religions.

"In their "holy" book, the Koran, Christ is regarded as only a prophet. If the pope was His representative on earth, then he also must be a prophet of God. This caused the followers of Muhammad to fear and respect the pope as another "holy man."

"The pope moved quickly and issued bulls granting the Arab generals permission to invade and conquer the nations of North Africa. The Vatican helped to finance the building of these massive Islamic armies in exchange for three favors:

1. Eliminate the Jews and Christians (true believers, which they called infidels).

2. Protect the Augustinian Monks and Roman Catholics.

3. Conquer Jerusalem for "His Holiness" in the Vatican.

"As time went by, the power of Islam became tremendous - Jews and true Christians were slaughtered, and Jerusalem fell into their hands. Roman Catholics were never attacked, nor were their shrines, during this time. But when the pope asked for Jerusalem, he was surprised at their denial! The Arab generals had such military success that they could not be intimidated by the pope - nothing could stand in the way of their own plan.

"Under Waraquah's direction, Muhammad wrote that Abraham offered Ishmael as a sacrifice. The Bible says that Isaac was the sacrifice, but Muhammad removed Isaac's name and inserted Ishmael's name. As a result of this and Muhammad's vision, the faithful Muslims built a mosque, the Dome of the Rock, in Ishmael's honor on the site of the Jewish temple that was destroyed in 70 AD. This made Jerusalem the 2nd most holy place in the Islam faith. How could they give such a sacred shrine to the pope without causing a revolt?

"The pope realized what they had created was out of control when he heard they were calling "His Holiness" an infidel. The Muslim generals were determined to conquer the world for Allah and now they turned toward Europe. Islamic ambassadors approached the pope and asked for papal bulls to give them permission to invade European countries.

"The Vatican was outraged; war was inevitable. Temporal power and control of the world was considered the basic right of the pope. He wouldn't think of sharing it with those whom he considered heathens.

"The pope raised up his armies and called them crusades to hold back the children of Ishmael from grabbing Catholic Europe. The crusades lasted centuries and Jerusalem slipped out of the pope's hands.

"Turkey fell and Spain and Portugal were invaded by Islamic forces. In Portugal, they called a mountain village "Fatima" in honor of Muhammad's daughter, never dreaming it would become world famous.

"Years later when the Muslim armies were poised on the islands of Sardinia and Corsica, to invade Italy, there was a serious problem. The Islamic generals realized they were too far extended. It was time for peace talks. One of the negotiators was Francis of Assisi.

"As a result, the Muslims were allowed to occupy Turkey in a "Christian" world, and the Catholics were allowed to occupy Lebanon in the Arab world. It was also agreed that the Muslims could build mosques in Catholic countries without interference as long as Roman Catholicism could flourish Arab countries.

"Cardinal Bea told us in Vatican briefings that both the Muslims and Roman Catholics agreed to block and destroy the efforts of their common enemy, Bible-believing Christianm missionaries. Through these concordats, Satan blocked the children of Ishmael from a knowledge of Scripture and the truth.

"A light control was kept on Muslims from the Ayatollah down through the Islamic priests, nuns and monks. The Vatican also engineers a campaign of hatred between the Muslim Arabs and the Jews. Before this, they had co-existed peacefully.

"The Islamic community looks on the Bible-believing missionary as a devil who brings poison to the children of Allah. This explains years of ministry in those countries with little results.

"The next plan was to control Islam. In 1910, Portugal was going Socialistic. Red flags were appearing and the Catholic Church was facing a major problem. Increasing numbers were against the church.

"The Jesuits wanted Russia involved, and the location of this vision at Fatima could play a key part in pulling Islam to the Mother Church.

"In 1917, the Virgin appeared in Fatima. "The Mother of God" was a smashing success, playing to overflow crowds. As a result, the Socialists of Portugal suffered a major defeat.

"Roman Catholics world-wide began praying for the conversion of Russia and the Jesuits invented the Novenas to Fatima which they could perform throughout North Africa, spreading good public relations to the Muslim world. The Arabs thought they were honoring the daughter of Muhammad, which is what the Jesuits wanted them to believe.

"As a result of the vision of Fatima, Pope Pius XII ordered his Nazi army to crush Russia and the Orthodox religion and make Russia Roman Catholic." A few years after he lost World war II, Pope Pius XII startled the world with his phoney dancing sun vision to keep Fatima in the news. It was great religious show biz and the world swallowed it.

"Not surprisingly, Pope Pius was the only one to see this vision. As a result, a group of followers has grown into a Blue Army world-wide, totaling millions of faithful Roman Catholics ready to die for the blessed virgin.

"But we haven't seen anything yet. The Jesuits have their Virgin Mary scheduled to appear four or five times in China, Russia, and major appearance in the U.S.

"What has this got to do with Islam? Note Bishop Sheen's
statement: "Our Lady's appearances at Fatima marked the turning point in the history of the world's 350 million Muslims. After the death of his daughter, Muhammad wrote that she "is the most holy of all women in Paradise, next to Mary."

"He believed that the Virgin Mary chose to be known as Our Lady of Fatima as a sign and a pledge that the Muslims who believe in Christ's virgin birth, will come to believe in His divinity.

"Bishop Sheen pointed out that the pilgrim virgin statues of Our Lady of Fatima were enthusiastically received by Muslims in Africa, India, and elsewhere, and that many Muslims are now coming into the Roman Catholic Church."

My my, aren't we touchy......

What the heck is it with some people anyway.

I mean, really.

There I was, minding somebody else's business, when all of the sudden, wham. Right out of left field, there is a mind numbing rebuke.

He's a politician for crying out loud, he's practically begging for me to point out his failings to the world.

But noooooo, some one has to actually like the guy. A Christian brother, no less.

This is quite a dilemma for me.

The politician in question has been systematically destroying what remains of the free world, and looking rather foolish while doing it. He is about as liberal as one can be without morphing into a demon on the spot! He is actively promoting every sin known to man as "progressiveness". And he has big ears!

Ok ok, I know all about the love your enemies stuff, believe me, been there doing that. But where do we draw the line?

I have read many testimonies of the saints who have gone to their martyred deaths while they were praying for there captors. Very noble stuff. I pray that I can do the same.

But politicians? You have got to be kidding. They're the ones who take our money and pay the captors who do the torturing!

And then there's this little gem,

"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth." ( 1st Timothy 2, 1-4 )

See, in my little world there's the good guys and the bad guys. It's been that way for years. But in Yahwey's world, well, he's just a big love bug. He can love anyone. And He does! This does not come naturally to me.

When I lived in the city, I was an active participant in a prayer ministry where we specifically prayed for "those in authority". From the Prime Minister to the head of the local Parks Board, every Tuesday we lifted these folks up to God and asked Him to bless them, protect them, give them wisdom, to "show them the way".

I remember praying specifically for the RCMP Commissioner one day. Then 10 minutes after the meeting I was being given a ticket for not stopping completely at a stop sign. I thought of the utter irony of the situation. How do I explain to this member with an attitude that I had just been lifting up his bosses bosses boss to the Creator and sustainer of the universe. I didn't. I'm sure the devil was chuckling as I squirmed and fretted.

So back to my current problem.

I love this brother in the Lord who was instrumental in my salvation.

I pray for the politician in question, even though the things I see him doing are far from what I think he should be doing.

Where is this going? To be honest, I don't really know.

I'm sharing my thoughts as I type.

Should we overlook our fellow Christians political leanings? Who would Jesus vote for?

How do we deal with this, where our friends views are different than our own yet we want to maintain transparency of what we really think? Is it better to be tolerant and silent or transparent and offend your friend?

"Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come ; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!" ( Mathew 18: 7 )

So what was Jesus saying there? Was He saying to be polite and keep religion and politics out of the conversation?

Here's another gem from the Word,

"The word of the Lord came to me: Son of man, speak to your people, and say to them, ‘Suppose I bring a sword against the land, and the people of the land take one man from their borders and make him their watchman. He sees the sword coming against the land, blows the trumpet, and warns the people, but there is one who hears the sound of the trumpet yet does not heed the warning. Then the sword comes and sweeps him away. He will be responsible for his own death. He heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning, so he is responsible for himself. If he had heeded the warning, he would have saved his life. But suppose the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people. Then the sword comes and takes one of their lives. He is swept away for his iniquity, but I will hold the watchman accountable for that person’s death.’

“As for you, son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you must warn them on my behalf. When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you must certainly die,’ and you do not warn the wicked about his behavior, the wicked man will die for his iniquity, but I will hold you accountable for his death. But if you warn the wicked man to change his behavior, and he refuses to change, he will die for his iniquity, but you have saved your own life. " (Ezekiel 33: 3-14 )

By the way, the name of the politician of whom this is about means "Sword" in Hebrew.

Summertime.....

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that it's generally getting colder?

This whole global warming thing is really just wishful thinking by a bunch of people from Northern Canada. I mean, if you had 10 months of winter every year you'd be delusional too. Don't get me wrong, it would be way cool to grow bananas in Edmonton, but to have to stick my tailpipe into a hole in the ground so folks in India can take the catalytic converters off of their imports and sell them for scrap just seems, well, stupid.

What the heck is a "Cap & Trade" anyway? It sounds like a panhandler wanting to trade the cool thing he found in the dumpster for a smoke. Hmmm, not too far off actually.

As we spin our way towards Judgment Day, lets all remember the basics.

LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL OF YOUR HEART MIND AND SOUL AND LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.

Radical stuff there. Our "natural" inclination is to stiff arm God and covet all of our neighbors cool stuff. Then we can worship lucy fur and dance around the pyre. Woooo hooooo, good times!

Ok, here comes the preachy part.......

See, we have this little problem. It's called sin. You can call it whatever you want but it always, always, comes down to this. Another nifty name could be "Mefirstism". Here's a small but poignant example. Your driving down the freeway, tunes cranked up, and there's construction ahead. Two lanes now have to merge into one, let's say to the left lane. So as most of the traffic, you included, moves over to the left lane, there is virtually no one in the right lane for another 1/2 a kilometer. All of the sudden there he goes. The selfish sinner. He roars down that wide open right lane. He doesn't care about anyone but himself. A true disciple of Mefirstism. Of course, when he gets to the line of big orange pylons he suddenly sees the need to merge, as if he didn't know that was going to happen. He puts his signal on and looks for the first big truck he can cut off, forcing the trucker to hit the brakes and cause everyone behind him to slow down even more. And as for Mr. Sinner, he could care less. He just used the rest of you for his own gain and is going to make it to the child sacrifice meeting on time now.

Farfetched you say. pshah. This scene will be played out countless times in millions of various forms, today. Why? Because we are sinners! We want it now! Kinda like the kid in the grocery cart.

If you think I'm gonna just drop the J bomb right now, you're wrong. We need to understand why we have this tendency towards the darkness first.

It just ain't "natural" to be nice. I mean, take my wife for instance. No really, take her! She is the love of my life but for some strange reason she ticks me off sometimes. I want to be kind and loving all of the time but she shows me how I am a wretched sinner. I'm sure it's mutual. Why can't I just be all sweetness and light to my betrothed? Because of my sin nature! I am at heart, a selfish devotee to Mefirstism! Can you relate?

Dang, there's a house that needs building and I'm in here ranting about catalytic converters and bananas in Edmonton.

Well, if that's you, hi there.

I'm Jon, my wife is Mishel. We live in the wilds of British Columbia Canada on our little patch of paradise. My method of "going out, killing something and dragging it home" is to drive a transport truck, delivering house plants to Alberta. So I guess that would make me a "Living Commodities Relocator" and a homesteading pioneer. Not that boring when you look at it that way.

We, ok, I'm building a "recycled house" using as many used materials as possible. We're out of the zoning regulations area so I have a little more freedom to be creative. My lovely wife Mishel keeps the home fires burning and makes our house a home, as well as keeping me in line.

We are both followers of the Messiah Yeshua and therefore we believe the Word of God, the Bible, to be the inspired and only truth. Intolerant you say? We didn't make it up but we both have enough personal evidence and proof that He is Who He says He is. If you hang around long enough you'll see the little miracles, and some whoppers, for yourself. Better yet if you have a personal relationship with him you'll have your own amazing adventure stories! Maybe you should start a blog.

Political leanings are to the conservative side. I don't go for this left and right business. I am a free enterpriser, not a capitalist pig, I think that socialists are usually just jealous wieners who want everyone else's stuff. I am glad that Obama is the POTUS because that just means that The Book of Revelation is right on track. So now you hate me! That's ok, because I love you and will fight for your right to disagree with me! Freekin Christians, eh?

Have you ever seen a miracle? I have. Countless numbers of them. I like what some old preacher said, " You say that my prayers being answered are just coincidences well I sure have noticed how many more coincidences I have when I pray!" We had a "little" forest fire here back in the summer of '98. It was 105 degrees Fahrenheit in the shade and when I smelled the smoke I knew it was not good. This was a fir and cedar old growth forest and it was tinder dry. The fire came through at an amazing speed and we were evacuated within 15 minutes of it starting. Our little camp was right in the path of it and I knew that only the hand of the Lord could save my humble treehouse. 44 days went by and we waited at a local motel. Then the word came, it was there! The fire had literally split in two and gone around our place! It was a pretty basic shack, covered with tarps and bits of plastic, and even though 10,000 hectares of forest was burned our treehouse didn't even have a singe mark on it! That folks, is a miracle. There have been so many more times that Yeshua has been a very present help than I can recall. Needless to say, when the tribulation comes, and it will, and assuming the pre-trib rapture is a no go, then I won't be denying the One who saved me!

So now it's summer. We trust the Lord to protect us from forest fires and the idiots who start them. Our house is my "art project" and it will keep me busy for many years to come. There's an old saying where my wife comes from, "House done man die", so I'll be around for quite a while yet.

So if you want to hang around be our guest. Just remember, if I see you just standing there I might find something for you to do.
